LONDON PARKOUR MARATHON

As you know I have been preparing to do a 1000 miles of Parkour for a couple of months now, which will see me covering the distance of over a marathon a day plus Parkour until I get to Paris.

A lot of people have shown an interest in running with me for bits, but have said that they wouldn’t be able to ‘last that long’, with a good lot being in London. Firstly, if you join me, I am not the sort of person, nor will I be in the state to bomb it past you, we’ll go at your pace except if your on a bike or in a cab.

Anyway, I took this all on board and thought about setting it up as a mini sort of event, by putting the route online so people could see it in relation to where they work/live , and get people to join in for bits they want to.

This way, people can see the route exactly and where I will be going, there is no pressure how long you join me for, it can be as long or as little as you want.

Obviously It would be great if there were a few that are up for joining me the whole way through London but I will be blasting it on my own regardless. It won’t be a full on, running you to the ground marathon, as there will be Parkour involved through various well known spots on the way, until I get to Danson Park (Bexleyheath station) 26.2 miles later.

I will be able to predict hopefully around 2 weeks after setting of when it will be, and will b making sure it falls on the weekend. You can stay up to date on this site will daily diary blogs, twitter, and the live GPS, to see how I am getting on.. and off things, wheey that was poor.

LIVE GPS

Not long at all. I have never ever thought ‘rather you than me mate’ about myself. In the past, I have performed in front of the Queen, been live on TV with Celebs in front of millions, been in front of 10,000 people, been in front of CEO’s of worldwide brands, ran through Times Square in winter in a mankini (photo below), trained with the elite Royal Marines, been shot at by paintballers completely naked, and I can …honestly say that this, without doubt, is definitely the most nervous or anxious I have ever been before attempting something in my life.

Moving on. You may of probably of noticed that there is now a live GPS Tracker on the homepage, if you have not seen it then there is a clear diagram above showing you exactly where it can be found. This is currently set at the starting point of John O’groats, as I am not to hot on the idea of people knowing where exactly I am casting for Sticky lookalikes and doubles to help me out on 1000 miles of Parkour.

This now means you will now be able to see exactly where I am at any given time on the journey. A GPS tracker system will be on me at all times reading where I am and sending signals to this that and the other. All you will need to do is cross reference it quickly with the detailed routes that can be found here.

BODY TESTS

As time is (free)running very low, this week has involved me going to my chiropractors, physios, and Doctors for final check-ups before departure.
Since being checked when I was a junior I have had a benign heart Mur-Mur from birth. Through training in my life I have known about it, and been slightly weary of it when properly pushing it. It has literally been the only thing, body wise, really that I have had a slight worry about. Since I have been absolutely killing it for months, training with Marines, 13% Oxygen Chambers, 30 milers, pushing it, and planning to go all out I decided to see the GP for a full on check up and ECG test.

Worried slightly with what the results may be, and already thinking about the mental battle I would have deciding what to do, I was told that the Mur Mur no longer exists and I am indeed ready to blast it. Just the news I was hoping to hear. Especially when I will be attempting a 100 miles Ultra Marathon to start it all off.

I have also been trying to increase my overall body weight before this event and bulk out. Not only is calorie intake important for energy during this event, but I will constantly be burning fat and my muscles will become weak with so much running. Right now I have a metabolic age of a 12 year old and body is at 8%. I will also be making sure I go through the exact same tests during and after the 1000 miles of Parkour to see the changes my body will be going through.

NEW VIDEO. THE THIRD SPACE

Yes. Training and preparation is going well.
This is me sweating it out, like a boss, for my 1000 Miles of Parkour training for Motor Neurone Disease with Sean Lerwil, my personal beast. I took part in an hour-and-a-half run in a cryochamber hypoxic chamber at The Third Space in central London. The chamber that has a lower oxygen count and is similar to being at an altitude of 8,500 ft. Exercising in it has health benefits such as increasing your red blood cell and haemoglobin count which leads to better utilisation of oxygen in the body.

A good few sessions at The Third Space will play an integral part in helping me to reach my goal of achieving a 100 mile non-stop round the clock ultra marathon for MND to start my 1000 miles of Parkour. Here is a very short video of the first days events.

Please donate, I would not be doing this if I didn’t 100% believe in it.

ULTRAMARATHON TO START!

For those who don’t know what an Ultra-marathon is, it’s classified as anything over your standard marathon distance.
A certain figure has been nagging me while I run, progress, and improve in preparation for the 1000 miles of Parkour I will soon undertake for MND. Due to the way I have been training, and my mindset it has become more and more of a reality, and seems more possible. The whole reason I chose this challenge of 1000 Miles of Parkour was that it seemed impossible, and I knew that I would need so much strength to even have a chance of doing it, and if i did it, it would bring me a certain confidence I kind of needed. For this exact same reason, I have set myself the challenge of starting it with an attempt to run 100 miles non-stop.
I have never run this distance in one go in training so this is new to me, plus it will be before going on to complete the remaining 1000 Miles of Parkour.

It can’t be as painful as having MND, right ? Please donate, I would not be doing this If I didn’t think it was worth it.

JAMIE BAULCH HITS ME UP

Cheyo.

Inspiring those who inspire. Jamie Baulch, a true inspiration of mine and someone I always enjoyed watching sprint, has got my back on the 1000 Miles of Parkour journey that I am soon to embark on.

“Sticky is one true legend!! Doing things that others deem to be impossible! He goes against all odds and comes out on top! With a heart stronger than a lion be just wont stop. To just help out in some small way is a honour to me.”

Jamie Baulch
400 metres World Champion

Looks like Jamie will also be running through Cardiff, and maybe sessioning a few walls and railings with me. Thank you for all your support so far. Getting my donation target is just as important than getting to Paris.

Please support, run with me, donate and help these people out!

NEW VIDEO: MOTIVES

Holla.

A short video that sums up the feelings behind the run, motives, and the drive. What more can be said really. The video speaks for itself, so does the fresh boufon that we can now say has been shaved off ready for all the blood, sweat, and fears.
Today also was a day of Press which involved various people coming down to help spread the word and get people to support the cause. Thank you to everyone for all your support so far, it’s been amazing. Please, if you haven’t, donate. It takes literally 2 minutes and will make a shed load of difference.

NEW VIDEO: ANIMATED ROUTE

The animated route is here. Can’t say it’s a lot different from looking at a map, but gives some indication of the pure length of this mission. Thanks for all your support so far, looks like I am hooking up with lot’s of heads from every city from the UK. i really can’t wait to meet you and train with you. x

THE ROUTE.

Hello Hello.

So, this is the beasty 1000 mile Parkour journey route (in aid of Motor Neurone Disease) that I will start very soon.
This is the very basic version to give everyone a general idea of what major cities I will be hitting and sessioning. An extremely detailed one will go up on the site shortly and will be downloadable for sat nav devices, google maps and google earth. A detailed schedule is also being confirmed at this momment.

ROUTE

Now you know where I am heading, you have no excuses. Get in contact if you are down for joining me for segments, stretches, gaps, distances, or a piggy back.

Like I have previously stated, if you want to join me but you are worried I will race past don’t worry. I would never do that, the aim is to enjoy the journey with as many practioners as possible.

Soon.

Hill Starts

If  I wasn’t in Wales I don’t think I would of been able to train these as much as I have.  Especially with this little beaut of snake bend. I have literally had days of circulating up and down this. Starting a sprint at the bottom of a hill is completly different to starting a sprint on flat ground. The early morning on these have given me the extra breathe, strength and stamina needed to clear those Scottish moutains. Some days they will kill me, some evenings I would glide up it, all in all, I have found myself getting alot more adapted to do this faster and for longer. Happy days.

Calf compression

As I am pretty new to running masses of miles I have done a lot of research to make sure I do things alright, although I have n learnt it’s all about just listening to your body and getting on with it.

2XU Have sent me some compression calf guards to help with all things recovery and circulation when I am not running, and despite thinking that compression is a major fad in the sports world I have been pretty happy with the way they work. From there site :

“Targeting the calf muscle, calf guards are a great muscle containment devise that can be worn during training or competition. Using 2XU’s exclusive 50D/CK fabric that is also used in our leading compression tights, calf guards protect against leg fatigue and muscle soreness. An essential training tool for people who need extra support through their calf region when working out, the calf guards are also available with a foot stirrup for sports demanding shin protection or for when support for the Achilles region is required.”

Wet things to wet men..

We are naked when we have shower. And love the water, it does us good, it gives us comfort and keeps us refreshed. But as soon as we have clothes on, that added layer of material and step outside in the rain, we have a completly different feeling. Most of us anyway.

I will be completely honest now and say I love the rain, I love training in it, getting soaked to the bone and pushing through. I see it as another obstacle to get over and through. Everytime I have been running and the clouds have poured on my every little drip they have, I have ran faster, for longer than I normally would as I feel I need to get through more than ever. My morale gets boosted and begin to feel a strong state of mind. Being based in North Wales I have been exposed to a serious amount of wet weather, and learnt to love it. Howling winds and stormy weather are my call to tie my laces and dig deep. I used to say that wet days seem the wettest being a freerunner, and sunny days are the sunniest as it means you can do anything you want, but not anymore. Would be nice to have one scorcher though..
